Gökce Yurdakul is Georg Simmel Professor of Diversity and Social Conflict and Director of the Berlin Institute for Migration and Integration Research (BIM) at Humboldt University of Berlin. Her research examines migration, citizenship, and belonging through intersectional frameworks with particular attention to gender, religion, and racialization processes.
Professor Yurdakul leads multiple research initiatives on:
- Postmigrant citizenship reforms in Germany
- Intersectional marginalization of migrant communities
- Media representations of migration and crime
- Gender politics in far-right movements
- Transnational Muslim identities
Recent publications analyze non-belonging as a theoretical framework, resettlement experiences of Syrian refugees, and the racialization of kinship structures in German media. As associate editor of Social Politics, she advances feminist scholarship on migration and state policies.
