Gábor Virágh serves as Associate Professor of Ear Training and Division Director of Music at The Hartt School, University of Hartford. A dedicated music educator and performer, he specializes in the Kodály method while maintaining an active career as a classical and jazz trumpet artist across New England and Europe.
His educational foundation includes training at:

- Béla Bartók Conservatory of Budapest
- Berklee College of Music
- Academie Musicala Ottorino Respighi Festival of Assisi, Italy
Virágh's research centers on music pedagogy, particularly the Kodály method's application in ear training and choral education. His work bridges historical music structures with contemporary teaching practices, emphasizing folk traditions and classical forms. He has significantly expanded the Music Theory Department's ear-training curriculum since joining Hartt.
His publications focus on pedagogical resources for Kodály-based training, including edited historical choral collections and analyses connecting folk melodies to complex forms like Bach fugues. These materials are widely adopted in U.S. teacher training programs.
As an educator, Virágh mentors students from early childhood through master teacher levels and advises Sigma Alpha Iota. His performance career features collaborations with jazz legends including Joe Wilder and Freddie Hubbard, alongside classical engagements with Budapest's National Symphony Orchestra and Hungarian Radio Big Band.
He actively contributes to professional communities as associate faculty of the Kodály Center of America, member of the International Kodály Society, and former OAKE board member, frequently lecturing at national conferences and international symposia.
