Gyula Funták is a lecturer at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, teaching artistic geometry, anatomy, and drawing since 2002. Previously, he instructed at multiple Hungarian vocational art schools including the Vocational High School of Fine and Applied Arts, Óbuda Vocational High School of Art, Szentendre Vocational High School of Art, and Ibl Miklós Technical College starting in 1996.

His research explores the intersection of visual perception and artistic representation, analyzing historical techniques from Greek scenography through Renaissance perspective to contemporary optical illusions. He investigates how spatial structures, spiral forms in nature, and gravitational forces shape human anatomy and artistic expression, emphasizing practical drawing exercises to internalize these principles for creative innovation.
