Dr Guy Tallentire is a University Teacher in Geographical Information Systems and Deputy Admissions Tutor (GYE) at Loughborough University. He holds a PhD in Geography from Loughborough (2018-2023), an MSc (Res) in Polar and Alpine Change from the University of Sheffield (2017-2018), and a BSc in Geography from the same institution (2014-2017). A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Certified Carbon Literate, his research focuses on glacial dynamics, remote sensing applications in polar environments, and sediment transport processes in Arctic fjords.
His work integrates field observations, satellite remote sensing, and geospatial techniques to study topics such as meltwater plumes, subglacial drainage systems, and glacier retreat impacts. Notable contributions include analyses of sediment fluxes in Svalbard's Trebrevatnet glacial lake and long-term monitoring of tidewater glacier dynamics in Spitsbergen.
- Research highlights: Arctic fjord macronutrient dynamics, glacial lake outburst flooding, and pandemic-driven biodiversity interventions
- Key methodologies: Sentinel-2 satellite imagery, in-situ sediment measurements, and geodetic glacier elevation modeling
Recipient of the Hart Prize in Geography (University of Sheffield, 2017), his interdisciplinary approach bridges glaciology, environmental science, and geomatics. Active in educational outreach, he contributes to admissions and curriculum development within the Geography department.
