Guy Denuault is Associate Professor of Electrochemistry within the Southampton Electrochemistry Group at the University of Southampton. He serves as the organiser of the Southampton Electrochemistry Summer School and leads the MSc Chemistry by Research program. His academic career spans over three decades with significant contributions to electroanalytical chemistry and electrocatalysis.
His research focuses on oxygen reactions in electrocatalysis, theory and applications of nanoelectrodes, microelectrodes and nanostructured microelectrodes, scanning electrochemical microscopy, and modeling of electrochemical processes. His work bridges fundamental electrochemical theory with practical applications in energy conversion and materials science.
Denuault's recent publications (2020-2024) demonstrate a continued focus on advanced electrochemical techniques, particularly in oxygen reduction reactions, microelectrode applications, and electrochemical interfaces. His research shows strong interdisciplinary connections with materials science, catalysis, and nanotechnology, with applications in fuel cells and electrochemical sensing.
His scientific recognition includes:
- Fellow of the Hanse Institute for Advanced Study (2011)
- EPSRC Advanced Research Fellowship
- International Travel Grant from Royal Society of Chemistry
- HWK Fellowship from Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg
Denuault actively supervises PhD students in chemistry, with a long history of thesis supervision dating back to 1997. He has directed multiple MSc programs including the MSc Electrochemistry and Battery Technologies and currently serves as the school senior tutor. His research has been supported by various grants including EPSRC funding and collaborations with international institutions.
He leads the Southampton Electrochemistry Group, which maintains strong international connections through his numerous visiting professorships and overseas teaching engagements in Europe, South America, and Asia.
