Professor Guy Barrington Marks is a Scientia Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and Head of Respiratory and Environmental Epidemiology at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research. He holds concurrent appointments as a Respiratory Physician at Liverpool Hospital, Director of the Australian Centre for Airways Disease Monitoring (ACAM), and Honorary Professor at the University of Sydney. As an NHMRC Senior Principal Research Fellow, he leads major initiatives in lung health research.
His research focuses on:
- Epidemiology of respiratory diseases including tuberculosis, asthma, and COPD
- Health impacts of air pollution and environmental exposures
- Capacity-building for lung health research in low-resource settings
- Innovative diagnostic and management strategies for multidrug-resistant TB
Awards recognize his exceptional contributions:
