Gustavo Machado

Associate Professor Gustavo Machado is an NHMRC Investigator and Robinson Fellow at the University of Sydney's Sydney School of Public Health and Sydney Local Health District. He specializes in improving musculoskeletal pain management in emergency and pre-hospital settings. His work focuses on clinical trials, observational studies, and health services research, with a focus on reducing opioid use, optimizing imaging practices, and implementing virtual hospital models. He has secured over $19.5M in research funding and led studies such as ADAPT-ED, SHaPED, and BACK@HOME.
