Gustav Mogull is a Royal Society University Research Fellow at Queen Mary University of London since 2024, affiliated with the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences' Physics and Astronomy Department. His fellowship, 'Gravitational Waves from Worldline Quantum Field Theory,' is funded by a £1.3m grant.
Education:
- Bachelor’s and Master’s in Natural Sciences and Mathematics from the University of Cambridge (2009–2013)
- PhD in Physics from the University of Edinburgh (2013–2017), supervised by Prof. Donal O'Connell
Research Focus: Specializes in gravitational wave modeling using Quantum Field Theory (QFT) techniques, particularly the Worldline Quantum Field Theory (WQFT) formalism co-developed in Berlin. His work targets high-precision calculations of gravitational observables, including spin, radiation, and tidal effects, to enhance waveform models for future gravitational wave detectors like LIGO and Virgo.
Awards:
- Royal Society University Research Fellowship (2024–present)
Previous Affiliations:
- Postdoctoral researcher at Uppsala University (2017–2020), collaborating with Dr Henrik Johansson
- Affiliated with Humboldt University and the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (2020–2024)
