Guoxiang (Emma) Hu is an Assistant Professor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research focuses on quantum mechanical modeling and materials informatics to advance energy harvesting, utilization, and climate remediation through atomic-level insights. She previously held an Assistant Professorship at the City University of New York (2020-2023) and conducted postdoctoral research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (2018-2020).
Education: Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry (2018, University of California, Riverside); B.S. in Chemistry (2013, University of Science and Technology of China).
Research interests emphasize accelerating discovery of materials for green energy applications, combining theoretical and data-driven approaches to uncover structure-property-performance relationships. Her group operates at the intersection of computational chemistry, materials science, and sustainability.
Labs/Teams: The Hu Group (website: hu-group.org). Current advisees include Ankit Bansal, Seungjun Cha, and Prajeet Oza.
