Kevin L. Shuford is a Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Chemistry at Baylor University's College of Arts and Sciences, where he has served since 2012 after appointments at Drexel University and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. from the University of Florida (2003) and postdoctoral work at Northwestern University (2003-2006).
Dr. Shuford's research spans computational chemistry, nano-optics, and renewable energy materials, with recent work focused on plasmonics, ultrafast quantum dynamics, and sustainable energy solutions. His group employs advanced modeling techniques to study light/matter interactions in gas and condensed phase systems, particularly in solar energy conversion and electrical storage devices.
Analysis of his 15 most recent publications reveals a strong emphasis on halogen bonding in carbon nitride materials, boron-based electrocatalysts for ammonia synthesis, and quantum dot heterostructures for solar harvesting. His work bridges theoretical chemistry with practical applications in sustainable technology.
Dr. Shuford actively recruits graduate students with strong mathematical backgrounds for his computational research group, which maintains an interdisciplinary focus across chemistry, physics, and materials science.
