معرفی
Guowei Ma serves as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Engineering at The University of Western Australia. With a substantial research portfolio comprising 278 publications and an h-index of 74, his work centers on structural engineering challenges including blast and impact loading, explosion safety for offshore structures, and innovative concrete technologies such as GFRP reinforcement and 3D printing. He has contributed to 7 ARC-funded research projects and supervised 21 students.
His research expertise encompasses structural analysis and design, structure response to blast and impact loading, explosion safety assessment of offshore structures, GFRP reinforced concrete structures, discontinuous deformation analysis via numerical manifold method, and multi-scale multi-physics modeling. Additional key areas include fracture network analysis, composite materials, rock mass engineering, and 3D printing applications in construction. This work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals for sustainable infrastructure and disaster resilience.
Recent publications (2022-2023) reveal a trend toward integrating advanced computational techniques with experimental work in concrete technology, focusing on electromagnetic shielding composites, geopolymer optimization, GFRP reinforcement, and novel reinforcement for 3D printed concrete. These studies demonstrate a multidisciplinary approach combining materials science, structural engineering, and machine learning.
Professor Ma has successfully led 7 ARC research grants, including projects on 3D printing conductive concrete for EMP shielding, nano reinforced concrete, and national facilities for blast simulation and structural testing. His supervision of 21 students underscores his commitment to academic mentorship. He collaborates extensively within research teams focused on structural testing and blast simulation, contributing to facilities like the National Facility for Physical Blast Simulation.
