Guoer Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at UC San Diego. Her research focuses on Chinese political institutions, the politics of data, and automated administrative systems. She explores how political influences shape technological infrastructure in areas like air quality monitoring, revealing biases in objective data. Her methodological work emphasizes causal inference and survey experiments.
Education: Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science & Scientific Computing (University of Michigan, 2024), M.Res. in International Development (LSE, 2016), B.Soc.Sci. (University of Hong Kong, 2013).
Also completed visiting studies at Wellesley College and taught at the LSE-PKU Summer School.
