معرفی
Gunther Springholz serves as Associate Professor at the Department of Semiconductor Physics within the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU). His research focuses on cutting-edge quantum materials phenomena with strong experimental emphasis.
His primary research interests encompass topological materials engineering, magnetic heterostructures, ferroelectric semiconductors, and spintronics phenomena. Notably, his work explores Rashba effects, altermagnetism, and Berry curvature in quantum systems, with significant contributions to understanding magneto-optical responses and spin-orbit coupling in novel materials.
Analysis of recent publications reveals dominant trends in magnetic topological insulators (2025), altermagnetic materials (2024), and ferroelectric semiconductor engineering (2024). The research spans condensed matter physics and quantum materials science, with strong emphasis on experimental characterization techniques including magneto-optical spectroscopy and magnetic circular dichroism.
As principal investigator, he leads multiple major projects including Ferroelectric Topological Matter for Weyl Fermions (FWF-funded, 2025-2028) and Propagating Low-Energy 4f Paramagnons (FWF, 2024-2026). His collaborative work extends to the EU-funded META-FAB project on metamaterial fabrication.
Professor Springholz actively participates in academic service including chairing the 23rd International Winterschool on New Developments in Solid State Physics (2025) and organizing the 73rd Annual ÖPG Meeting (2024). His frequent invited talks at major conferences like GADEST demonstrate his standing in semiconductor physics research.
