Dr. Gunnar Jacob is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the University of Mannheim's Department of English (School of Humanities). His research focuses on psycholinguistic mechanisms in morphological and syntactic processing across native, bilingual, and heritage speakers. He holds a psychology degree from the University of Münster and a doctorate in experimental psycholinguistics from the University of Dundee.
Key research interests include structural priming effects, bilingual cognitive systems, and the role of orthography in second language morphological processing. His work spans experimental methodologies in translation studies, heritage language maintenance, and age-of-acquisition effects. Recent studies explore constituent order influences and cross-linguistic priming paradigms.
Publications highlight innovative approaches to measuring lexical retrieval challenges in L2 learners and uncovering sensitive periods in morphological processing. His collaborative research bridges experimental psychology with linguistic typology, advancing our understanding of bilingual cognitive architectures.
Consultation hours: Thursdays 2–3 p.m. or by appointment.
