Gunnar Höst is an Associate Professor (Docent) in Visual Learning and Communication at Linköping University's Faculty of Science and Engineering, Department of Science and Technology (ITN). His work focuses on science education through visualization, with expertise in molecular biology, nanotechnology, and interactive learning technologies. He holds a PhD in Molecular Biotechnology and dual master's degrees in Engineering Biology and Psychology.
Research interests include cognitive processes in visualization-based learning, haptic interaction in VR environments, and metaphorical language in scientific understanding. He collaborates with the Visualization Center C and the Swedish National Centre for Science and Technology Education (NATDID). Key contributions span K-12 through university education contexts, emphasizing systems thinking and ethical considerations in AI integration.
Publications highlight innovative learning environments (e.g., carbon cycle simulations), educational technology design, and teacher professional development. His work bridges research and practice through projects like the C-research visualization hub and pedagogical frameworks for technology education.
