Gundega Jākobsone is a Professor and Head of the Department of Orthodontics at Riga Stradins University. Her expertise lies in orthodontic surgery, autotransplantation techniques, and maxillofacial skeletal stability. She holds multiple expert roles with the Latvian Council of Science (2014–2026).
Education: Clinical Medicine Expert certifications from the Latvian Council of Science (2014–2017, 2020–2023, 2023–2026).
Research Interests: Specializing in Class III malocclusion correction, orthognathic surgery outcomes, and 3D-printed surgical applications. Her work emphasizes craniofacial symmetry analysis, autotransplantation efficacy, and cone beam CT imaging advancements. Recent projects include evaluating facial soft tissue changes post-rapid maxillary expansion and optimizing autotransplantation surgical techniques using 3D-printed replicas.
Projects: Leading studies on autotransplantation success rates and facial soft tissue changes. Supervises PhD candidates in surgical innovation and orthodontic biomechanics.
