Gun Annika Viola Bodemar

Gun Annika Viola Bodemar is an Associate Professor in Sport Management at the Department of Sport and Social Sciences, Norwegian School of Sport Sciences. Her research focuses on leadership dynamics, agency, and conformity in sports organizations, with a particular emphasis on aspiring leaders at major sporting events. She teaches leadership and event management, integrating critical management studies and qualitative methodologies into her pedagogy.

Bodemar’s research explores tensions between institutional frameworks and individual agency in sports leadership contexts, including studies on the Youth Olympic Games and action sports governance. Her recent work addresses sustainability transitions in sport organizations and the prioritization of UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Her publications highlight challenges in junior leadership development, dual governance structures in sports, and the negotiation of managerial pressures. She employs qualitative methods to analyze leadership authenticity, institutional conformity, and organizational behavior in sports contexts.
