Associate Professor Gulsevim Can Gurbuz serves in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dumlupinar University, where she has progressed from Research Assistant (2009-2021) to Doctor Lecturer (2021-2023) and currently holds the rank of Associate Professor (2023-present). She concurrently serves as Deputy Head of Department since 2021. Her academic journey includes a B.A. and M.A. in Fine Arts from Anadolu University (2008, 2011) and Proficiency in Arts from Gazi University (2018).
Her research critically examines intersections of Contemporary Art, Realism (Social Realism, Photorealism), and Urban Phenomena within Turkish cultural identity. Key investigations include: the city's representation in postmodern art, realism's philosophical contradictions, originality in photorealism, and contextual art criticism methodologies. This focus manifests in her 2024 book Contemporary Art Readings and analyses of artists like Mümtaz Yener.
Her publication trajectory shows consistent output since 2021, with six journal articles and three conference proceedings addressing evolving themes from foundational realism studies (2022) to current cultural indicator analyses (2024). The research demonstrates increasing international engagement, culminating in the 2023-2024 International Art Meeting project.
