Guillermo Javier Perez Gonzalez

Guillermo Javier Perez Gonzalez is a full-time Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Girona (UdG), Spain. He is a key member of the Cardiovascular Genetics Center (CGC) at the Institute of Biomedical Research of Girona (IDIBGI), where he co-leads the electrophysiology and imaging unit alongside Dr. Fabiana Scornik.

His academic journey began in Argentina at the Applied Neurobiology Unit (CEMIC-CONICET), followed by research at Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Vermont, where he studied BK channels and calcium signaling. He investigates channelopathies linked to lethal arrhythmias such as catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia and Brugada syndrome, using techniques including patch clamp, calcium imaging, and immunodetection.
