Guillaume Marc Laurent is a Full Professor in the Department of Physics at Auburn University, where he also serves as the Director of the Auburn Source of Attosecond Pulses (ASAP) laboratory. He holds a Ph.D. in Atomic and Molecular Physics from Université de Caen, France (2004), an M.S. in Medical Physics from Université Paul Sabatier de Toulouse, France (2000), and a B.S. in Physics and Chemistry from Université de Bordeaux 1 (1999). His research focuses on attosecond science, ultrafast dynamics in atoms and molecules, semiconductor technology, and biophysics. He has pioneered novel attosecond pulse generation methods and developed advanced characterization techniques for ultrafast phenomena.
His honors include the Eugene Clothiaux Outstanding Faculty Award (2021) and Most Outstanding Professor (MOP) award (2017) from Auburn University, alongside prestigious fellowships such as the Juan de la Cierva Postdoctoral Fellowship (2006) and awards from French and Spanish research ministries. His work is supported by the DOE-BES, AFOSR, and NIH. Courses taught include Engineering Physics, Optics, Ultrafast Science, and Quantum Mechanics at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Key research interests include attosecond pulse engineering, electron dynamics tracking, semiconductor laser annealing, and biophysical applications of nanoparticles. His ASAP lab integrates state-of-the-art femtosecond and attosecond lasers, COLTRIMS spectroscopy, and ARPES techniques for multidisciplinary studies.
