Guido Rubboli

Guido Rubboli is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen's Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. He also serves as a Senior Consultant at the Danish Epilepsy Center in Dianalund. With extensive international experience in epilepsy research and treatment, Professor Rubboli has made significant contributions to the field of clinical epileptology.

His educational background includes a Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bologna (1984, cum laude), Specialization in Neurology from the University of Bologna (1988, cum laude), and specialized training in Clinical Electroencephalography and Epileptology under Prof. H. Gastaut in Marseille (1985).

Professor Rubboli's research focuses on epilepsy, epilepsy surgery, clinical neurophysiology, epilepsy genetics, and EEG. His work spans from fundamental research on genetic epilepsies to clinical applications in presurgical evaluation and treatment of drug-resistant focal epilepsies. He has developed expertise in the analysis of ictal motor behaviors, emotion processing in epilepsy, and genetic aspects of epileptic disorders. His recent publications demonstrate a strong emphasis on genetic epilepsy syndromes, treatment outcomes, and advanced analytical approaches to epilepsy classification.

His numerous scientific awards include Best Oral Communication at the National Congress of the Italian Society of Clinical Neurophysiology (1992) and multiple Best Poster Presentations at the same congress (1995, 1996).

Professor Rubboli has supervised several PhD students including Stefano Meletti, Romana Rizzi, Katrine Johannesen, and Joanna Gesche. He has received numerous research grants, including from the Japanese Epilepsy Association, Italian Ministry of University and Research, Danish Epilepsy Society, and NHMRC-Australian Government. His grant portfolio reflects his expertise across multiple dimensions of epilepsy research, from basic mechanisms to clinical applications.

He chairs several important commissions including the Commission of the Video-EEG Library of the Italian League Against Epilepsy and the Safety Board of the European Epilepsy Monitoring Units Association. He is actively involved with the International League Against Epilepsy and serves on editorial boards for journals including Epileptic Disorders (Associate Editor since 2017) and Behavioural Neurology (Associate Editor since 2015).
