Guido F. Verbeck is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Augusta University, within the College of Science and Mathematics. He also serves as Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies. His research centers on mass spectrometry, with a focus on instrument design, single-cell analysis for cancer biomarkers, nanoparticle toxicology, and biomolecular condensates.

His lab, the Laboratory for Imaging Mass Spectrometry (AU-LIMS), supports interdisciplinary research in chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology, environmental science, and forensics. He emphasizes a student-centered approach, training students in advanced analytical techniques.
His recent publications span topics such as the analysis of fentanyl analogs, portable detection of chemical warfare agents, and toxicological effects of silver nanoparticles. These works reflect a strong trend in analytical method development, forensic applications, and environmental and pharmaceutical toxicology, often leveraging novel mass spectrometry techniques for real-world impact.
Dr. Verbeck has received several scientific honors, including:

The Laboratory for Imaging Mass Spectrometry (AU-LIMS) houses advanced instrumentation including Thermo LTQ-Orbitrap, Waters Xevo APGC triple quadrupole, and multiple QTrap systems, supporting research in imaging, spectroscopy, and portable detection. The lab also features confocal Raman and fluorescence microscopy for integrated chemical imaging.
