Gudrun Schmidt

Gudrun Schmidt is an Assistant Professor at the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University. Born in Romania, she moved to Germany as a child, pursued chemistry at Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg, and developed expertise in synthetic/physical polymer chemistry through undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral research.

Her interdisciplinary research spans polymer nanocomposites, biomaterials, and bionanocomposites for tissue engineering, utilizing advanced scattering techniques to study soft matter structure formation. She received prestigious recognition through an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship and NSF CAREER Award.
