Prof. Dr. Dr. hc Gudrun Krämer is a Professor at the Institute of Islamic Studies, Free University of Berlin. Her research spans Islamic Studies and History, with a focus on the history and culture of the Near East since the Early Modern Period, reform of Islamic thought, Islamic movements, Islamic political thought, and non-Muslims under Islamic rule.

She has supervised numerous PhD students, including Katrin Simon, Torsten Wollina, Sarah Albrecht, Saud Al-Zaid, Alina Kokoschka, Nora Marianne Haakh, Philip Bockholt, Nadja Danilenko, Nicholas Gjorvad, Oriana Kochbeck, Barbara Ogbone, Markus Fiebig, and Clemens Holzgruber.
