Guanyu Huang

Guanyu Huang is an Assistant Professor affiliated with both the Program in Public Health (PPH) and the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS) at Stony Brook University. His work focuses on preventing harmful air quality impacts through interdisciplinary research combining atmospheric science, data science, and public health.

• Education: Ph.D. and M.S. in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Alabama.

Dr. Huang's research spans air quality monitoring, pollutant dispersion modeling, remote sensing, and environmental big data analysis. He utilizes satellite observations (e.g., OMI, TROPOMI) and advanced computational methods to study tropospheric ozone trends, biomass burning emissions, and stratosphere-to-troposphere transport. His work integrates machine learning techniques to enhance ozone profile retrievals and improve long-term data consistency.

Recent publications highlight collaborations with NASA and NOAA on the TEMPO satellite mission, evaluating air pollution reduction policies during the COVID-19 pandemic, and developing physics-based frameworks for multi-satellite data integration. His projects emphasize applications in public health, climate modeling, and environmental policy.
