Guannan Qu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), affiliated with the College of Engineering. He holds a B.S. from Tsinghua University (2014) and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University (2019). Before joining CMU, he was a CMI and Resnick Postdoctoral Scholar at Caltech (2019–2021). His research focuses on control theory, optimization, and reinforcement learning (RL), with applications to power systems, multi-agent systems, IoT, and cyber-physical systems. Key areas include scalable RL for networked systems, stability-aware learning, and model-based RL for nonlinear control.
