Guangze Guo

Dr. Guangze Guo is an Alexander Humboldt Fellow and Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Chair of Urban Water Management, Technical University of Munich since 2025, specializing in energy-neutral wastewater treatment systems with a focus on anaerobic membrane bioreactors for resource recovery from organic sludge.

His academic background includes a PhD (2021-2024) and Master's degree (2018-2021) from Tohoku University's Department of Frontier Sciences for Advanced Environment, Japan.

Research interests center on wastewater resource recovery, with expertise in high-solid anaerobic digestion, phosphorus extraction, biogas optimization, and membrane fouling mitigation. His work bridges environmental engineering and chemical processes to develop integrated systems for sustainable sludge management, emphasizing techno-economic feasibility of nutrient and energy recovery.

Recent publications reveal a concentrated research trajectory in coupling anaerobic membrane bioreactors with nutrient recovery processes (particularly partial nitritation/anammox), targeting concentrated organic sludge streams. This work spans environmental and chemical engineering domains, addressing critical gaps in energy-positive wastewater treatment.
