Guang Xu, PhD, MPH, is an Associate Professor of Biostatistics and Public Health at Marian University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. He holds a B.S. in Pharmacy from Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, an M.S. in Pharmacology from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and a PhD in Experimental Pathology with an MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Texas Medical Branch. His research focuses on epidemiology, infectious diseases (particularly scrub typhus), vector-borne diseases, vaccine development, and disease control. He has over 10 years of molecular biology and biostatistics experience, including work at Biosafety Level-3 and Animal Biosafety Level-3 facilities. Dr. Xu has collaborated on studies using murine models to investigate immune responses and disease mechanisms. His work emphasizes translational research and public health interventions, supported by grants and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Education:
- B.S. in Pharmacy, Zhejiang Chinese Medical University
- M.S. in Pharmacology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University
- PhD in Experimental Pathology, University of Texas Medical Branch
- MPH with Epidemiology track, University of Texas Medical Branch
Research Interests: Dr. Xu's work bridges epidemiology and immunology, focusing on understanding pathogen-host interactions in vector-borne diseases, particularly scrub typhus. He develops animal models to study persistent infections and immune mechanisms, with an emphasis on vaccine design and public health strategies.
Key Skills: Biosafety Level-3 experience, molecular biology techniques, biostatistical analysis, grant writing, team leadership, and scientific communication.
