معرفی
Guan Tay is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia (UWA) within the UWA Medical School's Psychiatry department. His research focuses on genetic and genomic studies, particularly in immunobiology, animal forensics, and molecular biology. He has contributed to over 95 peer-reviewed publications and led four research grants, including studies on the MHC's role in disease and forensic microbiology. His work addresses global health challenges such as diabetes, infectious diseases, and genetic susceptibility to conditions like psoriasis vulgaris.
Research Interests:
- Genetic analysis of the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) in populations
- Genomic epidemiology of SARS-CoV-2 variants
- Applications of genomics in forensic science
- Diabetes genetics and metabolic syndrome
- HLA associations with disease severity
Grants and Projects:
- Relevance of the Bovine MHC to Milk Production (ARC Linkage Projects, 2002–2004)
- Evaluation of SNPs in the MHC for Psoriasis Vulgaris Diagnosis (Clive & Vera Ramaciotti Foundation, 2000)
- Forensic Microbiology Applications (AB Health, 2008)
- EFS Travel Grant (Emirates Research Foundation, 2008)
Recent Articles Trends: His publications emphasize genomic approaches to understand disease mechanisms, including genetic associations with diabetes, viral infections, and forensic DNA analysis. Work on population-specific genomics highlights UAE-based studies on genetic diversity and disease susceptibility.
Awards: While no specific honors are listed, his high citation count (1,743) and h-index (21) reflect significant academic impact.
