Gualtiero Rota is an Associate Professor at the University of Parma's Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Enterprises, specializing in Ancient Christian Literature, Testament Exegesis, and History of the Classical Tradition. He has held this position since 2019 and maintains active teaching responsibilities across multiple degree programs.
His research explores the intersection of early Christianity with classical traditions, focusing on: Gnostic texts and their relationship to Christian origins; allegorical exegesis of Old Testament Wisdom literature (particularly Sirach); translation challenges in biblical philology; Byzantine scientific writings (especially seismological texts); Greek apologetics; and Christian pseudepigrapha. This work bridges philological precision with cultural-historical analysis across Late Antiquity and Byzantium.
