Guadalupe Escobar is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), holding a joint appointment in the Department of English and the Department of Gender, Race, and Identity. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on contemporary Latin American and Latinx literature, decolonial expression, and human rights narratives. She is currently on leave (2023–2024) supported by an ACLS fellowship.

Her research explores decolonial witnessing in post-Cold War testimonio, U.S.-supported state violence, and the intersection of race, gender, and identity in literature. Key projects include her book Decolonial Witnessing: The Post-Cold War Testimonio of Human Rights, analyzing how literary and visual works confront Cold War legacies.
