Grzegorz Małecki (born November 22, 1950) is a Polish set designer and lecturer at the National Film School in Łódź, where he graduated from the Directing Department in 1981. He earned his Doctor of Fine Arts degree in 2015, cementing his academic credentials in the field of cinematic arts.
Małecki has maintained a dual career as both a practitioner and educator in Polish cinema. His professional work spans set design, acting, and consultation across numerous film productions including feature films, documentaries, television programs, and especially student etudes. As a lecturer, he has provided pedagogical supervision for countless student film projects throughout his tenure at the film school.
His filmography demonstrates remarkable breadth and longevity, with professional activity dating back to the late 1970s and continuing through to recent works like THE M WORD (2023). Małecki's work primarily focuses on Polish cinema, with significant contributions to both artistic and educational aspects of film production.
Among his notable recognitions are awards for his work on HAMADRIA, including the Award for Plastic Design at the Kraków Film Festival (1982), Third Prize 'Bronze Pegasus' at the Zakopane Art Film Review (1982), Audience Award at the Białystok Film Festival (1983), and the prestigious Andrzej Munk Award (1981).
His recent work shows continued engagement with the next generation of filmmakers through student productions, while maintaining professional activity in feature films and documentaries. In 1996, a documentary was made about him titled GRZEGORZ MAŁECKI - SCENOGRAF, highlighting his significance in Polish set design.
