Grzegorz Lech is a Professor at the Academy of Physical Culture in Krakow, employed in the Department of Sports Theory and Human Motor Skills within the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport. He teaches courses in "Theory and Methodology of Combat Sports" and "Theory of Sport".
His educational background includes a PhD in Physical Culture Sciences (2002) analyzing factors modifying judo matches, and a postdoctoral degree (2015) on motor skills of judo practitioners across age groups and their relationship to match outcomes and athletic ability.
His research bridges athletic performance and scientific analysis, focusing on combat sports biomechanics, somatic athlete profiling, and age-specific technical-tactical training optimization in judo. His work integrates empirical match analysis with motor development theory.
As an elite practitioner, he has competed since 1982, winning multiple Polish championship medals including gold, and served on national/Olympic teams. He currently directs training for the Polish Judo Association as a first-class coach.
He is a member of the Idōkan Polska Scientific Association and has supervised one doctoral dissertation, contributing 75 publications to sports theory literature.
