University of Arkansas for Medical Sciencesمعرفی
Grover Paul Miller, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine. He is also a member of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.
- Education: Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University (1997), NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at Vanderbilt University (1999-2001)
- Contact: MillerGroverP@uams.edu
Dr. Miller’s research focuses on metabolic activation and clearance of xenobiotics, including drugs, pollutants, and food additives, with emphasis on computational modeling, machine learning, and cytochrome P450 enzymes. His work bridges in vitro and in vivo studies to identify metabolite biomarkers for drug-induced liver injury (DILI) and develop predictive models for adverse drug events.
Recent publications highlight his interdisciplinary collaborations, particularly with Dr. S. Josh Swamidass, to integrate artificial neural networks and chirality codes into metabolic modeling. These studies span CYP2C19, CYP2E1, and CYP2C9 mechanisms, contributing to safer drug design.
- NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship
- US Patent 8,608,967 for UPLC-MS warfarin profiling
Dr. Miller advises graduate students, including Allie Schleiff, and has secured two multi-PI NIH R01 grants to advance computational models of drug metabolism. His lab’s work on enantioselective oxidation and mitochondrial CYP2E1 activity has implications for toxicological risk assessment and personalized medicine.
