Gro Birgit Ween is a Professor at the Department of Social Anthropology, University of Oslo, affiliated with the Section for Ethnography under the School of Ethnography, Numismatic, Classical Archaeology and University History. Her research focuses on indigenous peoples' struggles, environmental governance, and decolonial methodologies, with fieldwork among Aboriginal Australians, Sami Norwegians, and Yup'ik Alaskans. She holds a D.Phil. from Oxford University (2002) and has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Aberdeen and University of Oslo. Her work bridges anthropology with science studies, addressing topics like genetic research and resource management.
