Dr. Charlotta Hillerdal is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Archaeology, School of Geosciences, University of Aberdeen. She holds an MA and PhD in Archaeology from Uppsala University and has been active in the field since her 2006 commercial archaeology work in Canada, followed by her 2010 appointment at Aberdeen.
Research Focus: Her work bridges Indigenous Archaeology, Community Engagement, and Viking Diaspora studies, emphasizing the archaeology of social identity and heritage discourses. Current projects include the Nunalleq Digital Museum, which integrates Yup’ik narratives with scientific findings to combat climate-driven heritage loss in Alaska.
