Gritzalis Dimitrios

Prof. Dimitris Gritzalis is a Professor of ICT Security at the Department of Informatics, Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He serves as Chairman of the University Research Centre and Director of the INFOSEC Laboratory (www.infsec.aueb.gr). He also leads the Master's Programme on Information Systems. His academic journey includes a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Patras, M.Sc. in Computer Science from City University of New York, and a Ph.D. in Critical Information Systems Security from the University of the Aegean.

• Research Interests: Focus on cybersecurity challenges such as privacy in social networks, digital forensics, critical infrastructure protection, and ethical aspects of cyberspace.
• Professional Roles: Served as Associate Commissioner of the Greek Data Protection Commission, President of the Greek Computer Society, and Chairman of Digital Aid S.A.
• International Contributions: Advisor to Council of Europe, CEN, EU Joint Research Centre, and Europol. Evaluated European Commission Framework Programmes.

Prof. Gritzalis has authored 10 books and over 160 peer-reviewed publications, and edited conference proceedings for major events like IFIP/SEC, ESORICS, and CANS. He is the Academic Editor of the Computers & Security journal (Elsevier).

His leadership in academic and professional organizations underscores his impact on both policy and technical advancements in information security.
