Gretchen A Piatt

Gretchen A. Piatt, PhD, MPH, is the Elizabeth Farrand Professor at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She holds dual professorships in the Department of Learning Health Sciences and the Department of Health Behavior and Health Equity, and serves as Co-Director of the Michigan Center for Diabetes Translational Research. Her work focuses on implementation science, diabetes self-management, and health equity, particularly among underserved populations.

Current projects include technology-mediated interventions, peer-led support systems, and health equity-focused training for CHWs.

Her recent publications (2024-2025) emphasize social determinants of diabetes outcomes, hybrid clinical trial methodologies, and culturally tailored interventions for marginalized groups. She has led NIH-funded studies like the PRAISE Study and contributes to national initiatives addressing systemic barriers in urologic oncology trials and veterans' healthcare access.

Dr. Piatt's work integrates implementation science with chronic disease management, focusing on scalable solutions in Federally Qualified Health Centers, churches, and Latino/a healthcare settings. She advocates for improved mental healthcare access in diabetes patients and develops weight management programs for primary care integration.
