Mary Janevic

Mary Janevic is a Research Associate Professor in the Health Behavior and Health Equity Department at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Her work focuses on community-engaged research to address health disparities among older adults, particularly in chronic pain management and healthy aging initiatives.

Dr. Janevic's research centers on developing community health worker-led interventions for underserved older adults with chronic pain, examining cultural and psychosocial influences on disease management, and exploring innovative solutions like mobile health and pet-assisted coping strategies. Her work consistently emphasizes health equity and community partnership.

Her current projects include two NIH-funded 5-year R01 trials: the STEPS chronic pain program with Henry Ford Health and the RESET intervention addressing pandemic-related loneliness with the Detroit Health Department. She co-directs the Health Equity Core of Michigan Medicine's Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Center and partners with the Detroit Area Agency on Aging and United Auto Workers.
