Greta Seibel

Dr. Greta Seibel is an LSE Fellow in the Department of International Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She specializes in political economy, industrial policy, and state-led development, with a focus on Southeast and East Asia. Her research explores SME credit access, financial inclusion, and firm-size distribution in Indonesia, comparing it to South Korea and Taiwan.

Her current research investigates subsidized SME credit programs and the 'missing middle' in Indonesia's manufacturing sector, analyzing barriers to firm growth using census data. Previously, she worked with Welthungerhilfe on food security and decentralization in South Asia, and taught at SOAS. She speaks Dutch, German, and Indonesian.

Her work bridges economic history with contemporary development challenges, emphasizing comparative studies of industrial policies and financial systems.
