معرفی
Greta Gaiani is a Chancellor's Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), School of Life Sciences. Her research focuses on marine biotoxins, particularly ciguatera toxins produced by dinoflagellates like Gambierdiscus species, and developing biotechnological tools for their detection. She holds a BSc in Biology from the University of Pavia, an MSc in Environmental Marine Biology from the University of Trieste, and a PhD in Electrochemical Engineering from Rovira i Virgili University.
Her research interests include toxin detection via biosensors, harmful algal bloom dynamics, and mitigating risks to seafood safety. She leads projects funded by organizations like the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research and UTS, addressing ciguatera poisoning in Pacific communities and toxin production mechanisms.
Key contributions include studies on Gambierdiscus distribution, Heterocapsa ovata toxicity variability, and cyanobacterial sunscreen production. She collaborates extensively, with over 19 publications since 2017, focusing on toxin detection technologies and algal bloom impacts.
