Gregory Sharp is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Dartmouth College's Arts & Sciences Faculty. His research focuses on how neighborhoods and spatial environments shape social inequality and health outcomes in the U.S. He holds a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University (2013), and earlier degrees from Bowling Green State University (M.A. 1996, B.A. 1993).
His expertise includes housing inequality, community resources, and quantitative methods. Key research themes address the intersection of urban sociology, demography, and public health, particularly examining disparities in health risks like hypertension and diabetes through a neighborhood lens.
Recent publications analyze county-level residential patterns, racial/ethnic health disparities, and community influences on smoking and diabetes. He teaches courses such as SOCY 10 (Quantitative Analysis), SOCY 20 (Population Studies), and SOCY 34 (Health Disparities). His work emphasizes data-driven approaches to understanding how place-based factors perpetuate social inequities.
