Dr. Amy Spring is a demographer and urban sociologist at Georgia State University's Department of Sociology within the College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on neighborhood context, residential mobility, and spatial inequality, particularly examining how social networks, residential histories, and contextual factors influence housing decisions and reinforce systemic disparities like segregation and economic inequities. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Washington (2014).
Key research interests include the interplay between residential mobility patterns and spatial inequality, with emphasis on racial/ethnic disparities in neighborhood attainment, the role of kinship networks in migration decisions, and the health impacts of neighborhood environments.
