Gregory Knese is a Professor of Mathematics and Director of Graduate Studies at Washington University in Saint Louis. He holds a PhD from Washington University in Saint Louis and specializes in Complex Function Theory, Operator Theory, and Harmonic Analysis. His research focuses on stable polynomials, multivariable operator theory, and their applications in engineering and combinatorics.
Knese has been awarded an NSF Grant (#1900816) for his project on Operator Theory and Stable Polynomials, exploring connections between these fields and their implications for optimization and engineering. He has collaborated on studies involving AGN emissions and has mentored PhD student Jeet Sampat, whose work includes cyclicity-preserving operators.
His research outcomes include advancements in local descriptions of stable polynomials, operator preserver theory, and simplified sum-of-squares formulas. Knese’s work bridges pure mathematics with applied areas, contributing to both theoretical insights and practical methodologies in analysis and engineering.
