Gregory Beilman

Gregory Beilman is a Professor in the Department of Surgery and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He holds the Owen H and Sarah Davidson Wangensteen Chair of Surgical Research and serves as the Associate Dean of DoD Research and Partnerships.

Dr. Beilman’s research focuses on total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation (TPIAT) for chronic pancreatitis, including long-term diabetes outcomes, metabolic stress, and pain management. His work also explores hemodynamic monitoring in critical care, trauma surgery outcomes, and HIV immunology.

Recent publications highlight clinical trials on TPIAT efficacy, biomarkers for islet graft failure, and EMS training impacts. He has contributed to international consensus guidelines on chronic pancreatitis management.

As a leader in surgical research, Dr. Beilman collaborates with the Prospective Observational Study of TPIAT (POST) consortium and has pioneered studies on bioburden reduction in islet isolation.
