Gregory Amacher

Dr. Gregory Amacher is a Professor in the Department of Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation at Virginia Tech’s College of Natural Resources and Environment. He holds a B.S. from Pennsylvania State University and multiple advanced degrees from the University of Michigan (A.M., M.S., Ph.D.). His research focuses on natural resource and environmental economics, international forestry development, and public policy instruments. Notable projects include NASA-funded studies on Amazon floodplain resource use and USAID-supported conservation agriculture initiatives in Haiti. He co-authored the textbook *Economics of Forest Resources* (MIT Press, 2009) and has held editorial roles at journals like *Natural Resource Modeling* and *Forest Science*. Awards include the 2003 Panhellenic Teaching Excellence Certificate and College Excellence in Teaching Award. His work often involves multidisciplinary collaborations with ecologists, sociologists, and policy experts to address global environmental challenges.
