Gregorio Mora-Torres is a Lecturer in the Department of Mexican American Studies at San José State University (SJSU). He holds a Ph.D. in Latin American History from the University of California, Irvine (1987), with a focus on Mexican history. His teaching spans courses such as MAS 10A (Mexican American U.S. History & Government), MAS 105 (Chicanos: U.S./Mexico Relations), and MAS 205 (Chicana/o History). He has taught at SJSU since 1989, previously at San Francisco State University and UC Davis.

His research emphasizes Northern Mexico, Chicano history, and Californio communities. Notable works include editing and translating Don José María Amador’s 19th-century memoirs (2005) and ongoing projects like editing Jesus Maria Estudillo’s diaries and a two-volume history of Mexicans in the Santa Clara Valley. He actively mentors students, engages with community groups, and conducts historic tours on Mexican San José.
