Gregor-Maria Hoff

Gregor-Maria Hoff is a University Professor and Head of the Department of Systematic Theology at Paris Lodron University Salzburg. With over 300 publications spanning from 1997 to present, he is a prominent figure in contemporary theological discourse. His academic leadership includes managing the Doctoral Program 'Cultures - Religions - Identities' and overseeing targeted support programs for young theologians.

Hoff's research focuses on Systematic Theology with specializations in interreligious dialogue (particularly Jewish-Christian relations), synodal path developments in the Catholic Church, and fundamental theology. His work explores ecclesiological structures, justification doctrine, creation theology, and the intersection of religion with contemporary social issues. Recent publications examine the performative aspects of Catholic synodality, the theological implications of the Joint Declaration on Justification, and the conceptual framework of 'constructed creation.'

Hoff actively engages with current theological debates, particularly the German Synodal Path, women's ordination, and papal influence on international relations. His scholarly output includes numerous books, articles, and book chapters, with 13 publications in 2024 alone. Hoff serves as Project Manager for several significant research initiatives including the International Theological Excellence Program (2021-2026) and the Developing a Theology of Interreligious Dialogue project (2020-2027). He has supervised numerous doctoral students through the Doctoral Program 'Cultures - Religions - Identities' which he directed from 2018-2023.
