Gregor Jotzu

Gregor Jotzu is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), leading the Dynamic Quantum Materials Laboratory (DQML). His research focuses on controlling quantum materials using intense laser pulses and exploring dynamics in strongly correlated systems. He holds academic appointments in both the School of Engineering (STI) and the School of Basic Sciences (SB), with roles in the IMX and LACUS departments.

Education: Bachelor's from the University of Oxford, PhD from ETH Zurich under Tilman Esslinger. Postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter under Andrea Cavalleri. His work on Floquet engineering and topological superconductivity earned the Swiss Physical Society's Prize in General Physics and recognition by the Nobel committee.

Research interests include light-induced topological phases, photo-doping in superconductors, and Floquet engineering of quantum materials. Teaching focuses on materials science and engineering, with courses like 'Quantum Materials: Fundamentals and Applications' and 'Probability and Statistics for Materials Science.'
