Greg Skrzypek

Greg Skrzypek is an Associate Professor and Head of the School of Biological Sciences at The University of Western Australia (UWA), serving concurrently as Deputy Director of the West Australian Biogeochemistry Centre. He holds a BSc, MSc, and PhD from Wrocław University and has held prestigious fellowships, including an Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellowship (2012–2015). His research focuses on stable isotope ecology, hydrochemistry, and paleoclimate studies, applying techniques to trace nutrient/water fluxes, pollution dispersal, and environmental baselines in regions like the Pilbara mining area.

Research Interests: Skrzypek specializes in stable isotope analyses (H, C, N, O, S, Sr) to study ecological processes, hydrological systems, and paleoenvironments. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to environmental sustainability and climate action. Recent projects include investigating soil moisture dynamics in semiarid climates and applications of isotopes in water quality studies for the IAEA/FAO.

• Recipient of four ANSTO Grants (2021–2024) for radiocarbon dating and environmental records in Murujuga.
• ARC Linkage Project (LP210300691) on unsaturated zone functioning in semi-arid regions.

Labs/Teams: Leads the West Australian Biogeochemistry Centre and collaborates internationally with the IAEA. Active in training programs for stable isotope applications in water quality.
